Bitumen Tank

Bitument Tank

Bitumen Tank:

Bitumen is transported at temp of around 170 °C to 190 °C. The heating is supplied via an array of multi-layered heating tubes that are mounted on the floor, and sides of the tanks. To make sure that the efficient utilization of the tank as well as a safe ship attitude, the levels in the tanks require accurate monitoring, particularly during loading and unloading.

There are 2 types of Bitumen Tanks:

1. Vertical Bitumen Tanks

2. Horizontal Bitumen Tanks

1) The High Efficiency Vertical Bitumen tanks:

Energy costs are high and trends would like to suggest a continued rise in the longer term. Within the quarrying industry tank is a significant contributor to energy usage but due to its secondary nature in the day to day operation of a coating plant it may not be always given the attention it deserves. Therefore when purchasing a new bitumen thermal efficiency should be an important consideration in the decision making process.

A new Parker High Efficiency Vertical Bitumen Storage Tank can provide significant energy savings and reduce an operation’s carbon footprint. There is an ever increasing focus on the environmental and safety issues surrounding tank spillage. Parker ensures that its tanks conform to industry best practice guidelines regarding safe handling of bitumen, including safe working capacity, accurate contents gauges, available allege, and high ranking alarms all of which greatly decrease the risk of spills occurring.

2) The High Efficiency Horizontal Bitumen tanks:

The tanks can be supplied with three types of heating system all fully thermostatically controlled and incorporating all necessary safety and controls systems. Electrically heated storage tanks are fitted with high efficiency ceramic bridge full length immersion heaters and ideal for use where low cost off-peak electricity supplies are readily available.

Thermal oil heated storage tank incorporate internal heat transfer coils heated by a Parker external heat exchanger and that are ideal where electric supplies are limited or where gas and light oil are the fuel of choice.
